On the last weekend every June, Scobey plays host to Pioneer Days, a celebration of Montana’s history all packaged in a fun, family affair. The Daniels County Museum is home to Pioneer Town, a historically-preserved turn of the 20
th-century town featuring 35 buildings to tour. While you can visit any time throughout the year, Pioneer Days are special because of the additional flare and events that make this a must-see event when traveling through Northeastern Montana.

Parade
On Saturday afternoon, there is a huge parade through the streets of “downtown” Pioneer Town. The parade features antique cars, trucks, and tractors, as well as a wagon train with horses and buggies. Fun for the whole family and sure to please, the parade is the ultimate celebration of all things Pioneer Town has to offer.
Town Tour
35 historic buildings have been restored to make up Pioneer Town, which is a close depiction of a town in the early 1900s. Check out the preserved buildings, including a one-room school house, the old general store, a blacksmith’s shop, a post office, and old churches. All buildings are fully furnished and decorated to match the period. Be sure to stop in the Daniels County Museum to see artifacts, old cars and more, too! There is a printed walking tour that you can pick up when you enter Pioneer Town and there are informational plaques in each building, too.
Delicious Foods
Historically, Scobey was one of the largest shipping points of grain in the world. During the harvest, cook carts would come into the fields to serve food to the workers. At Pioneer Days, these same cook carts are back in rotation, serving up a Threshman's breakfast featuring pancakes and sausage. Other boots serve up hamburgers and Indian tacos and fry breads.
Rex Theatre and Entertainment
Originally built as a grain storage facility in 1913, the Rex Theatre building was almost immediately moved to main street where it became a movie theater at the end of the year in 1913. During Pioneer Days, “The Rex Theatre is home to the Dirty Shame Show where the Dirty Shame Belles perform their high-energy dance routines to musical numbers performed by the Dirty Shame Dixieland Band, in between the dancing and music is a variety show, featuring comedy skits and sing-alongs” (City of Scobey website). Features include original theatre seats, curtain, walls and ceilings. There are two performances each day during Pioneer Days.
